The romantic aspects of the book are written in a realistic and exciting way--but without either the sleaze (that we see in a lot of YA) and without hiding the details and moments. It's enough to make your heart flutter.
I also admire Angelini's boldness to bring accurate history (view spoiler). Angelini definitely knows her stuff and has a respect for her source material and inspiration (unlike a lot of YA). This book goes A LONG way in reintroducing this amazing period of writing to our next generation.
The moral of this review, if you can't tell, is that Angelini is one of a kind, and she's created a plotline and characters that are truly original to her genre.
