Book Summary:In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

My Thoughts:
This is hands down my favorite book of 2011! I love love love Veronica Roth! Brava, Miss Roth, your debut novel is absolutely fabulous! This story was so fast-paced, I was sitting up straight holding the book super tight the whole way through! I very much enjoyed her world, dividing society into separate factions to make one community is a very interesting concept. The fact that Chicago was once the city they inhabit is super cool, considering it is one of my favorites!

Beatrice Prior is a BAD ASS. I am so loving her outrageous sense of courage. I mean this chick is ruthless. I almost kinda maybe wish I was her. I can't really say too much without giving the goods away but I really am amazed at how well her character progressed. Her transition from quiet, obedient girl to mega-vibrant and brazen woman was surprisingly swift and seemingly natural. I can honestly  say Beatrice is my new favorite character. I love her through and through.

I must admit when I first began reading this book I didn't expect detailed action scenes. I figured that the good part was gonna be the drama, and I will honestly say I was wrong. The action scenes in this book really got my nerves going. I felt anxious through every thrilling scene. I absolutely love books that can make me anxious. I read this book all too fast and I really cannot wait for the next book in this series. This may be the first series I have gotten obsessive about since Blue Bloods. I couldn't be more excited for your next masterpiece Veronica Roth. This book is exactly what I have been looking to read. Non-stop action and deep, heartfelt character interaction. Definitely deserves my 5 stars! Its out now guys, pick it up at your local bookstores like RIGHT NOW.

  1. A shocking, captivating, and thrilling story, I was enthralled by every chapter of Divergent. Veronica Roth's writing took my breath away. It was ORIGINAL, descriptive, and emotional; I felt as though I was part of the story because every setting and feeling throughout the book was so vivid! I hung onto every word of the tale. The best parts of the book were when you could really identify with Tris's emotions and FEEL what she was feeling. Fear, anxiety, romance, bravery, uncertainty; all these emotions were nearly palpable throughout the entire novel.
